What is the Financial Plan?
The Financial Plan is a 10-year strategy that guides how Council manages its money, now and into the future.
It acts as a key reference point when we prepare our annual Budget and four-year Council Plan, helping us make informed decisions about funding services, maintaining assets and infrastructure, and planning new projects. While it doesn’t include every future initiative, the plan sets a clear financial direction for how we will support community priorities while staying financially responsible.
The plan is built on a series of assumptions like population growth, inflation, service demand, and asset needs, which allow us to forecast our financial position each year. It helps us plan ahead, respond to emerging challenges, and make the most of limited resources.
Most importantly, the Financial Plan provides transparency and accountability and enables the Council Plan to be successful. It gives our community a clear view of how Council intends to manage ratepayer funds sustainably over the next decade, ensuring we can deliver the services, facilities and infrastructure that matter most to our community and those that form our Community Vision.
