What is the Asset Plan?
The Asset Plan is a 10-year strategy as required under the Local Government Act 2020, which guides how Council looks after the roads, buildings, parks, footpaths, stormwater drains, and other council-owned public infrastructure we all use every day.
These assets support daily life in our towns and communities, from getting to work or school, to enjoying our local parks, sportsgrounds, and community facilities. This plan helps us take care of them responsibly, so they stay safe, accessible, and fit for purpose well into the future.
By outlining how we maintain, renew, upgrade, and invest in infrastructure, the Asset Plan helps us:
- Keep services running smoothly
- Plan for future population growth and climate change
- Spend ratepayer money wisely
- Support liveable, thriving towns across the Shire
Most importantly, the Asset Plan makes the Council Plan possible and is shaped by what our community told us matters most. It’s part of a bigger vision for the future of Wellington and it helps turn that vision into action.
